Trader banned from selling '1mm too small' kiwi fruit by sweet east pearl

A market trader has been banned from selling a batch of kiwi fruits because they failed to make the EU grade by just one millimetre, it was revealed today

Tim Down, 53, was stunned to be told his wares did not match the European size and weight criteria and were unsellable.

Inspectors found some of the stock destined for his stall in Bristol weighed four grams less than the minimum EC requirement - which Mr Down says equates to just a millimetre's thickness.
