A Monroe College grad Trina Thompson, 27, found herself at the Bronx Supreme Court filing a lawsuit against her college instead of being happily employed upon graduation. Thompson is suing her college for $70,000, the cost of tuition she paid to get her now useless information technology degree. Thomson said that the Career Advancement Office at Monroe did not try hard enough to help her find a job, failing to provide her with the leads and career advice promised. Thomson said she spent four months looking for a job with no success. The college administration dismissed Thompson’s lawsuit as “completely without merit.”
Trina Thompson has filed a lawsuit that seeks to recover the $70,000 she spent on tuition. The 27-year-old asserts that the school did not provide her job leads and career advice she was promised as part of her education.

I went to college I was made to use ink duplicators, the type of things I've never used after college in my entire life. Sometimes they teach you really useless things like that. I think it is good to tackle colleges who 'just want your money' whatever it takes. It's like now there's too many lawyers now and not enough jobs yet at uni they're churning them out like nobody's business. I think colleges and unis have a duty to use up-to-date equipment too. Even my school failed to supply with me careers advice other than 'go into the forces (The Government always want willing young victims' or 'secretarial work'. It was very limited. I know I would never suffered the 'delirium' of secretarial work had I had more choices available to me and better support. Good luck to her.
