Please not the correction about the contest -- World's Ugliest Dog contest is held in Petaluma, California. Ugly Dog Contest is different and is held in Del Mal, California.

Ugly Dog Contest Crows The Winner

The ugliest dog has been crowned in Del Mar, California. Rascal, this year's winner, has a face that only a mother and his owner Dane Andrew could love. The skinny, bug-eyed, nearly bald, dangling tongue Rascal has already won once in 2002. His fame led him to star in horror movies and make appearances on Barbara Walters' "The View" and "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno.

Rascal's breed? The Sunnyvale Chinese Crested, which is a hairless breed of dog.

In world's ultimate showdown of ugliest dogs that takes place in Petaluma, California each year, Chinese Crested reigned supreme for seven years as world's ugliest dogs before being pushed aside by 2009 winner boxer Pabst.

[Rascal's] proud owner, Dane Andrew, could only see the top dog’s inner beauty. “I think he’s the most handsome dog I’ve ever seen,” the Sunnyvale resident insisted. “People just say, ‘Your dog is ugly.’ So we just go with it and have fun with it. He’s the best at what he does, I guess. He’s ugly.”
