Vanessa Hodja Nicolas Cage Photo: Resume Fail or Win?
Vanessa Hodja Accidentally Sends Nic Cage Pic Instead of Resume
It's the ultimate oh-shit moment: you're applying for a job and you write up a cover-letter email, add an attachment and click Send... only to find that you attached the wrong document. For Vanessa Hodja, it's much worse: instead of attaching a resume and cover letter, she attached a creepy photo of Nicolas Cage.
20-year-old Vanessa Hodja, a student at York University in Toronto, blogged the mishap, in which she Nic-Cage-bombed Canada Job Banks. The response: "Vanessa, all I see is a picture of Nic Cage looking terrifying." The damage was done.
In her (capitalized) words, "JESUS CHRIST I ACCIDENTALLY SENT MY POTENTIAL FUTURE BOSS A PICTURE OF NIC CAGE RATHER THAN MY COVER LETTER+RESUME, WHICH WAS A ZIP FILE TITLED WITH A BUNCH OF NUMBERS LIKE THE JPG I ACCIDENTALLY ATTACHED OH MY GOD"
We're forced to wonder why she kept a Nicolas Cage photo on her computer. We're further forced to wonder why it's that particular Nic Cage photo.
For what it's worth, we suggest that Canada Job Banks get in touch with Vanessa Hodja. She's clearly not just another drone. In terms of personal branding, "Nic Cage is my resume" is about as strong a statement as you can make.

Hahaha, man I thought accidentally sending the wrong version of a cover letter was bad. This, on the other hand, is so bad that it's awesome!
