This story out of Florida again proves the wisdom of my old friend and co-worker Carl Hiassen, who's written some devastatingly funny black comedy books about the insanity that is Florida. Someone's mad at a city commissioner in Deltona, FL, and is leaving threats--in the form of voodoo dolls.
A menacing voodoo doll with an official's face attached and pins stuck in its body has prompted extra sheriff's protection for city commissioners, Local 6 has learned.

I suppose there is always the possibility for this to escalate into something more serious; I just couldn't help smiling about the 'extra sheriff's protection' he now needs.
Hopefully though, this is just someone with a grudge and it won't go any further.

Actually, it's a "she" who's gotten the dolls.
I was going to drop back and note that the local Deland-Deltona newspapers seems to be ignoring this. But the Orlando Sentinel--as always--has a full story, including other factors.
That story notes that one commissioner has had nails thrown on the driveway. How does that compare as a threat? I wonder.

Whoops, sorry.

Don't you find the Sentinel's story fascinating as a counter-point? And...what about the investigation's current state? Interesting, so interesting. Story behind this one, no doubt!

Yes definitely - I think it is interesting how the Sentinel's story provides such a different viewpoint of the matter - how the community is complaining of the extra security presence being devoted to one matter rather then bettering the community as a whole. I always think it's interesting how different news sources approach the same story from a different angle - that's why it's always important to read / watch different stories if you want more of an understanding of a event (in most cases anyway).

PEP, I like this story. It's good stuff. Those voodoo dolls gave me my laugh for today. Thanks!
