According to the conspiracy website lolcatz.info (They claim that they use this name to avoid getting detected by Aliens or something in the page Why Lolcatz), the producers of Lord of the Rings used necromancy to film the ghosts in the movie (the ghosts of the traitors who later agreed to help Aragorn):

The proof is rather flimsy, apparently Tolkien wrote that the ghosts were grey, yet in the movie they are green. If computer animation was involved nothing stopped them from making the ghosts grey. Since they are green, they were not animated with a computer, and therefore, filmed from actual ghosts raised through necromancy.

But how would Jackson have been able to direct a crowd setpiece cast entirely from ghosts? Surely they'd be too difficult to wrangle.
