Shoppers were stunned when a massive swarm of thousands of honey bees touched down in a busy city centre.

Around 15,000 insects gathered in Queen Street, Exeter, at around lunchtime on Tuesday.

While some people darted for cover, others stood and watched the aerial acrobatics.

I have seen many bees recently in Southern California. This swarm of bees landed in front of our house and stay there for one day until they left.

That's what happens when countryside comes to city - panic. A bit miserable sometimes.

These flew into to my mums garden one afternoon and set up home in the kids sandpit. Not sure where they came from or why they settled there. Suffice to say we called the local beekeeper who came around, suited up, put them all in a cardboard box and took them back to his hives to make honey!

The bumblebees are not normally aggressive if you're careful. They're more interested in the lavender.
