Why people want to live long?
The reason people want to live long is instinctive. Even any animal under the control of man and have no consciousness wants to live long. What is the reason? Well, as I said the general conclusion is instinctive. But man has many reasons for living long of which the following are the few. Me, I want to live for two reasons. The first reason is because of love especially of sexual love. It is very nice, you see, and I want to live to make sex always. The second reason is to see something new in this world. I well know that every next second, hour, day, etc, is full of new events, sad and exiting and I like to live to see these new events. If there was no new thing, living would be meaningless, routine and to tell you the fact I could take the last rest. Others want to live to obey the rule of nature. Again others want to live to obey the rule of their god. why you want to live?

I knew a young teen artist who was immensely talented. His parents did not know what to do with him because he did not want to study required classes. Testing showed he had the ability to excel in any subject, he just didn't want to.
His father was a musician and his mother a fine artist, and both were successful at their art.
There son applied for an art show, with help from my daughter who was in college. He got into the show declaring that it was a retrospective on his life's work. It was as if he were dead. In attendance, people laughed about his taking the position at such a young age, though many graduate students felt threatened by the young mans work. It was so good in ideas and execution.
When I talked with him, he was aware that his work and presence was amusing to people and he played the role just as Joaquin Phoenix. He enjoyed the experience. He said to me that this is as much as one can expect, to have art professors and art peers appreciating the work.
"The trouble is, I can't make it any better. I am finished."
The next year, he committed suicide, jumping from the Bay Bridge.

People want to live long in order to surpass what is expected from the human species...or any species for that matter. They want to believe the seemingly impossible is possible. Maybe we CAN live forever. Maybe we just think we cannot because that's been told to us and instilled in us for so long: Death is inevitable. We want to believe more exists than what is seen, and we want to find out what exactly the unseen is.

Personally, I would like to live long enough to: see the War on Drugs come to an end; the U.S. Government admit that Drug Use Education is the best approach to end drug abuse; and, the beginning of humanity's altercation with robots. Frankly, these were all scheduled to happen in my lifetime according to a psychic I was introduced to in 1977. I cannot imagine anyone living that long.
