WHY STUDY ENGLISH? - AN ANSWER to the ECONOMIC CRISIS?
English as second language becoming a demand to bilinguals and to many ASIAN Countries including the Philippines. But many have troubles using it and most are put in hot water being misinterpreted and are embarrassed using it...
Facts gathered were attributed to English Learning abroad and submitted by ESL TEACHERS
ASIA:
In Japan,Korea and China, many are trying hard to study and learn the language. They even spend millions to send their kids to study abroad. They want the best English for their children. WHY? The compete worldwide? To be in the Society? Or to be recognised as Elite?
PHILIPPINES:
In the Philippines, studies shows that there are easy ways to enter language schools. Reasons varies through its many considerations such as; accessibility to local english speakers, more reasonable price, easy living and cheaper commodities( except for gasoline).
On the Other hand, many are aiming to learn the Language due to mandatory requirement to get employed in the USA, Canada or the UK. In fact, most are NURSES and DOCTORS. They quit their job to look for greener pasture abroad. SAd to hear but they gave up tehir job to have a better upportunities of earning dollars abroad..
The Bureau of Immigrations shows listings of applicants applying for an overseas job "CAREGIVER" .. Many are getting Travel Documents and switching thier profession.
The Philippine Government has to give attention on these matter. Any circumtances are colaborated with the present country's status..The unstable economic situation, prices are goin' up and no guarantee of stable financial means

These photos are of some of my fourth graders at Shanghai World Foreign Language School in Shanghai, China. They learned English as their second language in the international department. They worked together collaboratively to complete a wonderful presentation, and they did a fantastic job! As their teacher, I, John (Juan) Patrick Keefe II, am so very proud of them.

This is a classroom in the Mott School in North Dakota. The school is an older set of buildings that was a fascinating place to explore.

In Japan there a change in recent Years though, more and more Chinese and Russian is being learned and in growing demand as well, in business as in Politics and Science!
In North America the stats show a strong trend towards Spanish as well as Chinese!
Europe same thing, German, Russian, Chinese and Spanish are the languishes the fastest Growing in demand and students for business and Science as well as Politics!
English is on its way out with in the next Generation should the trend persist and it looks as it will even intensify!

Hi Paschen, The trend nowadays is to be MULTILINGUAL if you want to be more competitive. We are in the era of having ourselves be more expose to different cultures and languages.. In the Philippines, we are used to speaking differnt local languages. I too can speak several local and foreign langauges but still need to learn more..

I agree and some countries have been promoting this for over 40 years now, seeing into the future! Yet English is not one of the languishes of the future, as Hindi, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, would be or rather will be! The Children of today as well as the teen age and young adults would do much better investing they time in learning Hindi, Spanish, Chinese and Russian now rather then having to cash up latter and let the world go by them because they lack the skills!

Absolutely right paschen, I would like to learn German, French and Russian as well but got no means to do that this time. Got to burn so much efforts for me to do that..

I know it can be difficult, the best way may be to spend a study year in COOP program in the country, they are some rather good program around! I am trying to get the Chinese and Japanese right now, the oral is okay, however the written form is torture!

Sounds creepy but funny somehow. How we endure things like learning a foriegn language? We just wanted to be heard and communicate in such a way locals do hear you..Torture is the right word learning not just the language but the culture itself which is being adopted by our unconcious being
