Woman Driving Around With Corpse in Car for 10 Months
A former real estate agent from Los Angeles drove around for nearly a year with a dead body in her car. The Orange County Register reported on Thursday.
It is believed that the corpse is that of a homeless woman who was allowed to sleep in the midnight-blue 1997 Mercury Marquis overnight. Police would not release the vehicle owners name saying only that it belonged to a former real estate agent from the area.
The mummified corpse was only discovered after police responding to a vehicle blocking a driveway in Costa Mesa, noticed a foul odor coming from the vehicle.
Natural mummification can occour when a human or animal has been naturally dehydrated and thereby preserved for a long period of time
An autopsy has revealed no obvious signs of foul play, but the cause of death is still unknown, he said. Officers are also looking at whether there were any health code violations due to the fact that the driver was transporting a corpse, he said. The driver has not been cited or arrested.
Update
Police apparently now know the identity of the dead womans body but are waiting for next of kin to be notified.Police know identity of mummified body They are waiting to notify next of kin before releasing the woman's name.

She must not have had many customers, and those that she may have must have smelled something fishy or deadly about her.
