Woman Faces $1,000 Fine for Dyeing her Poodle Pink to Raise Awareness for Breast Cancer

A hair stylist in Boulder Colorado only wanted to raise some more awareness for breast cancer. But after dyeing her poodle pink (the colour of the cause) she might be forced to pay $1,000 in damages, as she broke the law.
Joy Douglas, owner of Zing Hair Salon, will appear in municipal court Tuesday on a charge of violating a city ordinance that prohibits the coloring or dyeing of animals. It was passed several years ago to discourage families from dyeing rabbits and chicks for Easter.
Lisa Pedersen, director of the humane society, said she's received complaints and they've warned Douglas several times.
Douglas is certain the pink stain doesn't harm Cici: She uses organic beet juice.

toronto woofstock 2007. i thought "why do that to a dog?"
raising awareness for breast cancer and using organic beet juice seems legit to me.
although, i now have a sudden craving for cotton candy.

this is a dog that belongs to a friend. she is often dyed different colors and this pink color is also from organic beet juice.
