After the trouble on Saturday during Englands first world cup game the difference was aparrent. For a weekday evening the whole of the centre of Manchester was quiet, really quite. The BBC's big screen which had screened the first game and had been a focal point for a small minority with some mindless and threatening behaviour was a quiet and pleasant summers evening in a urban space. The screen now showing a simple message, no more World Cup Football on this screen.

Not only had the big screen been turned off, all other Television sets in public places, like TV sales shops had been switched off.

The BBC will now be moving to the Castlefield areana to screen the remaining World Cup games. It will be a ticket only event for up to 7000 supporters.
