Hail and heavy rains caused scattered power outages and damage across Central Ohio on Wednesday evening.

About a dozen people had been evacuated from homes near small streams that overflowed their banks in the western part of Ross County, Sheriff Ron Nichols said early Thursday. He said he had declared a state of emergency in the county. The emergency was lifted at 5:15 a.m.

I grew up in the C-Bus and it was not unlikely to get a few crazy storms a year; tornados, hail, and flash flooding. But from the photographs I have seen this looks like it was a wild storm.  People reported that windows were broken, and the size of the hail was huge...

The geography of Columbus allows for flooding because there are major rivers running through the city, and since the area is flat for the most part the areas where there are large hills allow for water to get trapped below them, causing flash flooding.
