2009 T-Shirt Design for SFU TechOne Program Chosen
Participating students in the TechOne program in SFU Surrey compete with each other to have their t-shirt design stand out above all else. To create more of a community among the students, each TechOne program member is given a t-shirt at the beginning of the semester. A yearly contest for TechOne students allows them to design unique t-shirts, in hopes to become 2009's chosen design.
TechOne "is the first year of a Bachelor degree at Simon Fraser University’s Surrey campus and is built on the belief that a great first year is important to your university experience."
On Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at 11:52pm, the contest began. An internet advertisement for this contest was posted at this exact time, which stirred excitement among the TechOne designing students. Last years winner, Kitty Chan, had been interviewed with her responses recorded and documented on SFU's TechZone, to inspire and motivate the competers of 2009.
Not only are TechOne students competing to have their designs worn by all their peers, but a prize for the winner provokes students to participate in this contest. The prize for this year's competition is a 16GB iPod Touch!
As the deadline approached on February 22nd, 2009, among many participating students, designer Obi Vattanawong sent in his t-shirt design and waited expectantly for his design to come out on top of all others. As he waited in eager anticipation, on March 11th, Tech Zone announced Obi as TechOne's 2009 T-Shirt Contest Winner.
In the upcoming Fall 2009 semester at SFU Surrey, TechOne students will be flaunting Obi's unique t-shirt design, as he enjoys his winning prize of an iPod touch.
