Rupert Everett, never far out of trouble, takes a swing at Britain's wartime soldiers. Perhaps he's confusing his movie lot experiences as an actor portraying a soldier as the same thing as being a soldier.
Until this article, I had no idea that Everett had a background as a "rent boy." The things you learn!

Controversial actor Rupert Everett has accused British soldiers risking their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan of being "whining wimps", it emerged today.
The 49-year-old, whose father is a retired major and has relatives who earned Victoria Crosses, branded modern recruits as "pathetic" and claimed: “The whole point of being in the Army is wanting to get killed.”
The gay star has just finished filming a portrait of the 19th Century soldier and adventurer Sir Richard Burton for the Channel 4 documentary The Victorian Sex Explorer.

I had no idea either. And this is just a little harsh, huh!

Me, either. I'm not sure why he doesn't mind that being known.
Three more Brit soldiers were just killed in one event. I almost added that in, but was in haste. Everett's a well (fill in favorite expletive here.)

Yes. I saw him doing a documentary last night on Victorian sex, and while it was interesting, I did pick up that he was very arrogant. I think you would have to be to say such a thing.
