America's Next Top Model - Cycle 11 - Episode 9 Review

"Now You See Me, Now You Don’t”

Stay tuned for tonight’s review of ANTM.  Tonight the girls will tackle the much anticipated Cover Girl commercial.   Whitney Thompson, cycle 10 winner, will assist the ladies in prepping for the commercial. This episode I think pretty much makes or breaks the model’s chances of winning.  If they stumble, get too nervous it’s never a good sign.  We’ll be updating this review while watching tonight.  So stay tuned for updates from Amy and I and we'll see you tonight!

Seems like the pressure is really getting to the girls now too - even happy-go-lucky Joslyn loses it. I also love this episode because it's when the girls find out where they are going for the remainder of the episodes. I wonder where they will go this season? Have they gone to London yet? I can't remember. My guess is for somewhere in Europe, maybe Paris? Well, we'll have to wait and see!

Episode Review:

We are reminded Lauren was sent home last time.  7 girls remain. Who will be eliminated tonight?
 
The girls are in the big bus/limo thing hmm Marjorie and Elina bonding…weird???? Elina says she’s more reserved because she’s from Europe and that unless you’re from Europe you won’t be understood.  Marjorie understands.  Samantha reminds them they moved here when they were 8.  Elina gets pissed off saying how hurtful that was.  Elina scares me. Sheena steps in and asks if they are happy to be in America.  Marjorie and Elina get defensive.  Back at the house now. Sheena says they are only what they are in their mind.  Analeigh, Elina and Marjorie bond on the couch.  Said they’re being attacked.  Sheena, Samantha and McKey also spoke about the bus/limo ride in the kitchen.  Sheena says it’s where you’re going not where you’re from.  Joslyn could care less what the girls are talking about. She said she feels she’s breaking down.  She really looks ill!

First of all, I don't understand what Elina and Marjorie are talking about. I'm from Europe and I live in Canada now and I don't think that makes me 'special' or 'different' and it certainly doesn't give you an excuse to blame any of your faults on that. 'I can't do that because I'm European' or 'I can't possibly model a tight dress because I'm European'. Get over yourselves! How annoying is that? It bothered me, and Elina is so scary that she just needs to go home now. Joslyn does look ill - what is wrong with her? I am starting to like Sheena more and more - I like how sassy she is. She doens't take any crap.

The girls then arrive at some purple place. These twin brothers come out. We saw them in Cycle 6 teaching the girls how to twirl. Today they are here to show the girls how to work with accessories.  Working with the garment and being versatile. Analeigh says they were like big teddy bears and wants to hug them…what? 

The twins were a bit scary I agree. They looked EXACTLY the same!! I know they were twins but come on!

McKey- demonstrates some hat and keeps spinning it. 
Sheena-can work a scarf.
Joslyn – tries working a purse.
Marjorie tries to demonstrate a skirt…I have no idea what she’s doing..at all..what are you doing? 

Marjorie is so awkward I can't even watch her - it makes me squirm.

This green person in spandex comes out and all you can see on the screen are the clothes they have on. Then he takes his hood off and we discover it’s really James St. James freak show author and fashion provocateur.  They meet this designer with pink hair Nony Tochterman.  They need to impress Nony and her friends.  They will be in the green suits and the audience will only see the clothes. Samantha says they are really hot. The Seventeen lady comes out Ann Skotet says they will be in some holiday accessory story in Seventeen. 

Lots of fashion people are quite eccentric aren't they? I mean, look at some of the biggest designers in the world. They are just crazy and you would never wear what they wear, yet you want to wear their clothes. It's so odd.

Elina –She is modeling some jewelry but complains how she can’t breathe.commerical time... they show that damn cheese commercial again!!!!

That cheese commercial will be the death of me I swear.

Back.

Elina – she gets up there and started dancing and feeling fine.  She let go for once.

She had a good dress though with a good sleeve to keep swishing around.

Mckey – she pulled her skirt too much and pulled it too wide.

Wide like a school bus - not good

Marjorie –perfect challenge for her! But the dress falls off and she doesn’t notice. How do you not notice that?

I would totally be that girl  - with the dress around my waist and not even notice.

Analeigh – she pulled her pearls off to the side. They liked it

She's so cute!

Samantha – she wanted to show versatility… but it looked like she was fighting with her jacket. Taking it off and then back on.

Yeah, do something else with the jacket...

Joslyn – I’m not sure what she’s doing. But she ends up doing something with the belt that made her look like a stripper…oh dear

Was she not listening when the judges kept telling Sheena to 'turn down the hooch?'

Sheena – kept twirling with her ruffled dress. She just kept moving. 

Too much moving - stand still for a second.

And the winner of the challenge  is Elina! What? Ughhhh not her.  Anyway she get’s to choice two friends so she picked Analeigh and Marjorie (surprise surprise her ONLY FRIENDS).  Samantha is mad they picked Elina when she hates holidays. They did ok on their shoot I guess but I really really don’t like Elina. 

I thought it was so funny that Samantha said Elina didn't deserve to win because she hated holidays and was an aethist! So funny! I laughed my ass off!

Tyra Mail!!! (Screams) - A well read model is always prompt Love Tyra. ……hmmm commercial time?

Joslyn says she feels under the weather and that she’s drained.  Girls in the kitchen now. Analeigh gets onto Samantha. Then Sheena gets onto Analeigh and Marjorie.  Sheena gets onto Elina for being a hypocrite.  How are Marjorie and Elina friends?  I don’t understand.  

I totally felt that Marjorie was egging Elina on by saying 'oh so you're calling her a hypocrite?' Um, you can understand what is going on now Marjorie, but before you couldn't because you were European? Give me a break!

Commerical time. 

Oooh another Whitney commercial…I’ve only seen her twice since last season…that would be the two commercials I’ve seen watching the show…never anywhere else. 

I missed the commercial again!

Back in the kitchen…

Sheena is still fuming.  Elina looks evil..plotting..who knows.  I hope they duke it out.  Good vs. Evil that’s what Sheena said the competition has come down to.  

Sheena would so win if that happened. Although Elina could probably kill her with her evil controlled stare...

They arrive to some big house in Bellaire.  They meet Whitney (third time I’ve seen her now) she says they’ll be showing some new eye shadow..she still seems fake..Whitney. Ughh now I know why she bugged me last season…fake! Girls will get a teleprompter to help with their commercial photo shoot.  Girls get their make-up done and practice their lines.

I loved her! except remember her commercial last season? it sucked! She was terrible - she shouldn't be giving advice. Their make-up looks really good though.
I always want to go out and buy Covergirl at this point in the show - I suppose that's the point

Samantha up first –this seems easy..I don’t remember other seasons using a teleprompter.

she was good - a bit too bubbly, but better than being boring

Elina – ughh I reallllly don’t like her.  Now that Clark is gone all my anger goes toward 

Her commercial is soooo boring! I think I actually fell asleep!

Elina.  She just bothers me – I don’t know what it is but she bothers me.  I would be afraid to be alone with her. She’d probably use some voodoo on me or something. 

McKey – she seems clueless they say. Nice make-up though!

Bad - not good - but very pretty

Analeigh – she did an amazing job they said.

Love her!!

They pause to show us Josyln hurling in the garbage bin…eww gross…why oh why did they have to enhance the sound of her blowing chunks?

Gross - modelling and barfing - I guess they go hand in hand... I'm bad... :)

Marjorie – hmm she’s not that nervous!  What happened? Did she take pills? I thought she did well then she starts crying! Ooooooooh I spoke too soon…I don’t get this one. She does better on take 2

She was so nervous! I can't stand her chicken movements! It's awful!

Sheena – she was “feeling what she was sayin”.  Every motion had a fluid point the director said

I liked her commercial, it made me want to go out and party with her.

Joslyn – she was sick but not giving up she said. She keeps doing that southern belle laugh…too much they said.

I hated her laugh - but good for her for doing it when she is so sick

Tyra Mail!!! (Screams) Tomorrow they will meet with the judges.  Only 6 will continue on in hope of becoming America’s Next Top Model

Sheena wants Elina or Marjorie to go because she thinks they are spiteful.  Marjorie talks about how crappy she did.  She looked like Molly Ringwald today. 

She looked dead with her crazy make-up and crazy hair. Halloween much?

Judgment time – they go over the prizes. 

Critiques…no wait Tyra says first the girls have to put on these huge clogs and walk in them. Huh?  Hahaha they look so funny! Way easier then heels – I gotta get a pair of these!  Oh I can’t stop laughing they look so funny walking in these huge clogs.

I think Sheena did the best - she just sashyed herself down the runway.

She then announces the girls will be going overseas to Amsterdam! Hahaha great – models in Amsterdam – they’ll all be stoned this should be great!  But wait…not everyone is going to Holland.  There are 7 girls and only 6 of them will continue on.

I knew it was somewhere in Europe (see my earlier prediction)

Judgment of commercials

Samantha – she didn’t make it her own or enunciate her words.

She wasn't bad though

Marjorie – they said she rushed…I thought she did well till she cried. They make fun of her…she looks like she’s about to cry again….ughhh stop with the crying!

She did some kind of chicken dance the whole way through - I can't believe she used to be my favourite!

Analeigh – Tyra says it’s the best Cover Girl commercial she’s seen done so far on ANTM.

Joslyn – she winked at the end. They were happy she show she was sick – but her laugh was too fake.

Her laugh was annoying but it wasn't the worst commercial by far

Elina – go away…please go away. She kept looking while she was walking.  She needs more eye contact she said.  Everything is inside and she’s holding back ….go home already…please!

Yes, just go, please, I'll pay for your plane ticket.

Sheena – they like it

Love it!

McKey – they looked bored. She looked pretty but she did a bad delivery.

Hers was the worst, but at least her make-up looked amazing!

Judges deliberate.

Tyra only has 6 photos in her hand.  First name she calls will be what the judges consider the best commercial. One of them will not be going to Amsterdam…

Joslyn and Elina are in the bottom two…I wish it was Elina but I have a feeling it will be Joslyn because they’ll want to keep Elina on for drama.  Tyra says she has two very different girls in front of her.ooh Tyra makes it seem Joslyn makes it but calls Elina’s name…so Elina stays and Joslyn goes home…poor Joslyn that was mean making her think she was staying and then calling Elina’s name.  Joslyn said she didn’t see it coming and that she’s a survivor.  

I think Tyra was mean the way she told Joslyn she was out. To just say 'you'll be able to survive this' and then say Elina got it was just too mean. I think that was way too harsh and she could have done it better

Next week on America’s Next Top Model – girls do like a peep show model show in the Red Light District. 

well next week they are in Amsterdam and it looks really cool - I want to go back to Amsterdam! Stay tuned!!!

Just a random thought.  I have come to the conclusion that Analeigh really may actually be.....Tara Lipinski.  They look so alike!  Agree or disagree?
