Starting January 24, Amsterdam International Fashion Week holds a series of public fashion shows in and around Amsterdam, most of them held by Dutch and Belgium designers.
As usual, the events are also accompanied by 'Laundry Days', meaning openings of galleries and museums and parties all across the city.
Amsterdam International Fashion Week has been growing since 2004, but it is only recently that they have achieved an international reputation as it has tried to establish itself as a place where new young designers can show their collections. They value originality above anything else, and tend to reject commercial brands.
Tickets: Along with some AIWF events restricted only to invitations, most of the events, especially the shows and exhibitions of the Laundry Days are public. Check their website for the schedule and venues. Many of the events are free. Tickets for the Mode Fabriek fair in the RAI are € 15,- and can be bought at the entry. Pre-reserved on-line ticket via the Mode Fabriek website is € 13
