Are Banks, Post Offices Open on Labor Day 2011?
Labor Day is considered a public holiday in the United States, so don't count on doing any banking or business with the government on September 5, 2011. Business should resume as usual on Tuesday, September 6.
As a rule, most banks, such as Chase, Wells Fargo, and CitiBank are not open on the Labor Day. That being said, there may be exceptions so it may be worth checking with your local branch just to be sure.
Is There Mail Delivery on Labor Day?
The U.S. post office also observes Labor Day, so don't expect any mail to be delivered on that holiday. Mail will be delivered again starting September 6.
