The Blue Angels will be flying over San Francisco today and tomorrow as part of Fleet Week. Today's Blue Angel flights are part of the aerobatic team's training, ahead of the main Blue Angels performance in Sunday, October 11.

The event draws big crowds to San Francisco's waterfront with activities including air shows, ship tours and various festivals. Today's flights are scheduled for noon to 5 p.m.

Blue Angels leader Greg McWherter says he's glad to be in the Bay Area:
"It's just a gorgeous place to fly," said McWherter, who is in the city for the first time as a Blue Angel. "It's a challenging show site, but it's a very rewarding show site."

Here's the San Francisco Fleet Week schedule.

THAT would be probably about the ONLY thing I miss about California. I last saw the Blue Angels flying during Fleet Week, from Alcatraz Island. I wanted a different viewpoint of the action, and boy did I ever get it. So I made sure I was on the Island during their show.

With San Francisco as a backdrop this should be an excellent demonstration. I look forward to seeing photos of the event.
