Lol! I still remember the first time I heard BoA. I was at drink spot called Coco’s in Oakland (or was it Berkeley?). Anyways, her song came on. And I was hooked! At the time her ballads were echoed in Korean. But not even a few MONTHS later I find that she started making a name for herself on the J-Pop scene. And now she wants to make an American Debut?!?! Talk about ambitious. And a polyglot!

But history hasn’t been so kind to Asian artists in America, especially in the music industry. DnH had a successful, but short, stint in the late ’90’s. Same with Kai. Did I mention that they are 6th Day now??? Anyways. Does anyone remember Coco Lee? Or One Voice? Lets hope history doesn’t repeat itself with BoA.

But things have changed. Especially in 2008. This proves to be the BEST TIME for an Asian Entertainer to make a name for themselves in the US. MANY, MANY, MANY notable Asians have thrived in the mainstream media it seems this year. They include: the JabbaWockeez, Kaba Modern, SoRealCru, Harold & Kumar, Bobby Lee, the BEIJING 2008 Summer Olympics, even RAIN(!) just to name a few. And this Asian “exposure” only makes it easier for the US to warm up to BoA. Maybe even with open arms. Plus(!) she is a SEXY, Asian Woman. If that alone doesn’t bring in every white, black, red, green man to her album…then what will?!?! But I digress…

My thoughts: The Asian trend is here. Lets hope that its a trend that lasts!

So with that, what do you think? Will she make it? I say YES! But it won’t be done by any passivity. SO! Spread the word. Go VIRAL with the videos and get the iTunes song as soon as it comes out! (It should be earlier. And get your Myspace and Facebook pages up NOW! Time is wasting! *tick tock) Hell, blog about it like crazy! Thats what I’m doing! This is the Age of Information for chrissakes!

*To BoA and crew: This is a good start But you should take a page from Lil’ Wayne and “leak” (ONLY) a couple more songs. So the public can get taste of whats to come. Besides, didn’t he sell like, what, a million albums the first week by that same method? Just a thought.
