The Butchers Hook Boutique Opens in Victoria, BC
Victoria is chock full of great independent boutiques and Yates Street is home to a brand-new shopping destination: The Butchers Hook.
The small, minimalist shop opened on October 21, 2008 and stocks great menswear and womenswear labels including Vancouver’s own (212), pieces by ex-Obakki designer Genevieve Graham, hand-knit scarves by the Canadian Sweater Co., larry. neckwarmers, LnA, Wrath Arcane, and EVENAGAMBA. Dave Wallace, also an Obakki design alumni, owns the shop with model/girlfriend Lauren and plans to offer his own upcoming collection in the store in the near future.
Their goal is to carry only local labels by this upcoming Spring 2009 - preferably local to Victoria, but at the very least Dave wants all lines to be BC-designed.
Yates Street has had a significant makeover in recent months, with numerous residential developments that are refurbishing heritage buildings, and a handful of new retailers opening up, including Nood and Freedom. Yates Street runs parallel to the popular Johnson Street, or "Lo Jo," which is a primary shopping destination for tourists and locals alike.
The Butchers Hook is at 535 Yates St. in Victoria, BC.
