Top fashion glossy Italia Vogue has published an edition with all Black models. Industry pundits are predicting that this special July issue will be a flop to justify claims that African Caribbean and Asians beauty cannot sell magazines.
The-Latest is urging everyone who can to break the habit of a life time and buy Vogue to support our catwalk mannequins of colour. And spread the word.The fashion industry has been plagued with claims of racism, since some brave Black models spoke out about not getting work.
The Italia Vogue Black edition has been hotly anticipated by thousands of women of colour in the UK and by others eager to get their hands on this unique, campaigning copy of the couture fashion and style bible. How disappointed they must be. After months of waiting for this ground breaking issue to arrive on the shelves of newsagents today, Italia Vogue's absence was more noticeable with the July publications of sister glossies Vogue UK, Paris Vogue, Russian Vogue and Vogue Indian, freely available for purchase. Branches of WHSmith, one of the largest newspaper and magazine retailers in
Britain, have been inundated with enquiries from hundreds of vexed customers. At its huge concession in the upmarket Selfridges store in Oxford Street, central London, Mark, a supervisor, confirmed that they are expecting near to 150 copies of Italia Vogue next week and that demand will far exceed supply. He said: “We are likely to be one of only a handful of places who will be stocking it. Phone and reserve a copy if you can.”
Local newsagents, many in areas with a significant Black population, have started to cater for the needs of African Caribbean and Asian women and stock lifestyle, hair and beauty magazines like Essence, Pride and Asian Woman. However, these journals are still too often poorly displayed by them, hidden away behind mainstream publications like Marie Claire and Glamour or placed out of normal reach on the top shelf. Italia Vogue holds a lot of promise.
Not only for addressing the biased, unequal treatment of Black models in the highly lucrative fashion and beauty industry but also for giving women of colour the opportunity to exercise their power as consumers, demonstrating to advertisers and publishing houses that Black beauty can sell.

This story which appears on The-Latest.com, the UK's first dedicated citizen journalism website, requests that people buy the July edition of Italia Vogue. It also gives information about the availability of this special edition at one of the largest retailers in Britain and the relationship between women of colour, magazines aimed at women of colour and local journal and newspaper retailers in the UK. Vogue is ALL WHITE!!! What in the hell are you talking about? Here in the US, black women all over the country have been dying to get this issue and it's been selling out all over the place!!! I mean, buying muiltiple issues! I've bought 2 already and will probably buy 2 more just in case the 2nd becomes damaged.

I've spent the past few hours looking for the July Vogue Italia issue and can find it nowwhere. Those with whom I have spoken at Barnes & Nobles, Boarders, have informed that they haven't got the magazine or never recieved copies at all.
No wonder the magazine can't sell. It isn't availabale. This is not the way to drive demand, only frustration if that is the intention of the distributors.
Similarly, product performance should not be judged by this outcome. In other words, saying, "Ah-ha! See, a magazine with black women is not exactly the case in this instance."
There are plenty such pubs. on the newstands, at least here that prove the business case!

This is a big stepping stone to the women of color in this particular industry that is mainly white. I once was a subscriber to this publication for several years and its cover is full of women of non-color from cover to cover. When will there be a all white vogue issue. OH!!! The majority of them are that way. There is no need to call it that!! It takes a silly rabbit like you to be over analytical to ruin life for others around you.
