Toronto, CANADA - Recently with all the deaths in our city and around the world of pedestrians crossing the street while drivers are making a left turn it came to mind that why don't the car manufacturers eliminate the bar that blocks their view while turning left.

I don't think they can eliminate it, but why not make it clear so someone turning does not have a blind spot with a pedestrian walking behind the bar which goes from the roof to the dashboard on the drivers side of the car. It has been an increasing problem in the city and now with snow storms on the way it makes it even worse.

I realize that this is probably a steel bar to protect drivers from roll-overs but maybe something can be developed to avoid this deadly action. I have had some close calls myself but this is a problem while turning left while a pedestrian is crossing on a green light.

The technology does not yet exist that can make an affordable transparent material which can effectively frame and support the windows and roof.

Course pedestrians can either take some diligence and look both ways or get better running shoes.
