It seems hard to believe that it was 10 years ago that Chequers Pub opened up on Sukhumvit Soi 4 but it’s true. I remember walking by the first week that it opened and wondering if there would be enough business for it to survive with all of the competition in the area. They’ve done a lot more than survive in that time, they’ve thrived, and will almost certainly continue to do so for the foreseeable future as they continue to serve good pub food along with a good selection of drinks.
This is not a big place although they do have an upstairs that is used for dining and watching sports on a big screen TV. There are also smaller screens downstairs for the same purpose and this is a big part of the attraction at Chequers; watching sports with your mates. With it's special satellite system Chequers is able to offer a wide range of live sports. Here you can catch the six nations, Tri-Nations and World Cup Rugby all live. All Grand Prix F1 races are shown in their entirety without commercial breaks and as many as three events can be shown at the same time in different parts of the pub so you shouldn’t have any trouble watching your favorite event. Other sports include, Super 14s F1, A1 GP, Moto GP, and all boxing. Drinking beer is right up there as well and you can do plenty of that here with local beers Chang and Singha and international brands Heineken, Guinness, San Miquel and Strongbow cider. There’s plenty of good food too, as you would expect from a proper pub. Old English favorites lead the way with dishes like fish and chips, bangers and mash, mince and mash, pork chops, gammon steak and egg, roast chicken or pork and pies including steak and kidney, chicken and mushroom and minced beef and onion. Burgers, sandwiches, a couple of pastas and soups and salads are all her as well as Thai dishes and a lot more too. You’ll find something you like here and you can also get a Full Monty breakfast. There’s a real relaxed atmosphere and usually a good crowd so if you want a bit of a taste of home try Chequers any time. It’s sure to be here for at least another 10 years.

Thanks for the great review. I am now the new Landlord. Having been a customer of Chequers for the last 10 years, I knew what I was buying into! Definitely a place where friends meet, and know how to enjoy themselves. Impromptu parties are always the best, and a regular occurence.
New owner, so lots of plans for the future. Upstairs being big on the agenda. Super 100 inch wide screen being just a small part of it.
Always remember a friendly face, so hope to see you soon.
Thanks and regards
Nick
