It was with a veritable atom-bomb explosion of color that brought Custo Barcelona back to life after a disappointing show last season. With a mod 60’s vibe present in the teased hair and some of the mini silhouettes, there was a feeling of exuberance that came shining through, explaining the show’s title, “emotion in motion.”
Displaying both men’s and women’s clothes, there was a uniting kaleidoscope theme in the vivid prints and joyous irreverence to mixing colors and patterns. One absolutely outstanding men’s piece included a white suit covered by black flower embroidery. While there was no dearth of color in the men’s clothes, it was the women’s collection that was totally unrestrained in color experimentation. Sparkly embellishments, especially in the form of gold details, added to the vivacity of the collection.
There is no denying the artistry of the collection. The only drawback was that the clothes seemed almost too beautiful to wear; one wouldn’t want to profane the beauty of the garments by taking them out of their natural colorful wonderland habitat and into the dull gray world. Without a doubt, it was one of the most creative and unique shows we’ve seen all week.
