Daylight Savings Time on March 8! Clocks go forward 1 hour
Don't forget this Saturday March 8, that Daylight Saving Time is happening and you will need to put your clocks forward 1 hour at 2am.
This will mean that we will lose an hour of sleep as we 'Spring' forward.
However, this will mean that the days will be lighter for longer and that Spring is in the air.
Daylight Saving Time started during WWI to save energy during war time and for taking advantage of the longer light hours to build industry.
However, due to this time change it does not mean that the bars and clubs will close one hour earlier; they will still close at regular time, which will actually be one hour ahead of that.

Grrrrr. Hate daylight saving! Hate it more because our BC government decided to follow Bush and make us bring the clocks forward even sooner than we used to.
I wish we in BC followed Saskatchewan's lead and would pass on mucking about with time -- including our body clocks -- altogether.
The change to DTS disrupts our sleep patterns. And the first Monday after we 'spring forward' is one the least productive at work. Heart attacks spike the few days following the changeover, and while vehicle crashes are fewer in daylight hours, drivers are less aware during the first couple of days at DTS and collisions actually increase. For a bit more on the effects of daylight saving time, click here.
Thanks for the story!

Here in Sydney, Australia we start and end Daylight saving on randomly chosen days that are a little earlier or a little later in the year depending on arbitrary government whim and a few bureaucrats shooting craps in a darkened room. Naturally, on any given year the true day of reckoning will be kept secret until the last possible moment to ensure the maximum confusion and give a little glow of self importance to our elected incompetents.
