If a picture is worth a 1000 words, I am probably a defiant rascal to try and explain what fun is about when you already know how to entertain friends or colleagues. Dining & Lounge slow & slick the New Place for chilling is what these pictures you see here are all about.
Sochila Dining & Lounge
is Soweto’s current popular restaurant destination to hit the charts in the tourism and dining market. Sochila is a township lingo that defines relaxation to its limits, which means “chill-out”. Soweto never ceases to amaze me. Every time I take a drive to visit friends and relations I discover places I have never known before. Talk about Wandie’s Place in Dube and Nambitha’s in Orlando West– these are the oldest tourists’ branded past-time paradises when they drive second time around the townships. But, did you know there is a new kid on the Block, who is buzzing the daylights out of dining and eating out? This restaurant will blow your taste buds to who-knows-where! – And it is called Sochila Dining & Lounge. I must compliment Sphiwe for his warm welcome. Africans particularly in Soweto are very polite and respectful people. The tradition is still prevalent in the hospitality industr

y and very strong indeed. I felt like a very important diplomatic dignitary when I entered these premises. Beside, I wasn’t hungry as my friends know me to be. They have been raving about this place for so long that, I became curious to pay it a visit. I do not regret my decision for having gone there, instead I feel proud to eventually blog about it.
Sochila Dining & Lounge is another great surprise for tourists and locals of
Soweto.
The Restaurant is situated in Diepkloof Phase 2 and boasts an immaculate executive style dining set-up; yet refreshingly fun but, cool to take your spouse or friends out for a Saturday lunch. For those who want to change and explore the tones and colours of Diepkloof’s atmosphere, Sochila Dining & Lounge should be your very next stop. Speak to your tour guide it’s a must for you to drive by for a nice cold drink or cocktail. Why? So that -you can experience a more dynamic range in the life aspects of Soweto’s rich and diverse tapestry.
I wanted to meet “The Man” owner Mr. V. Zwane in person, but he was unavailable. I managed to speak to one of his assistant managers Mr. Sphiwe. I specially, took an interest to check out the premises and his menu, in an attempt to spoil my appetite and prove to myself that the “deal” is kosher. As the saying goes “curiosity killed the cat”. My curiosity to lunch and launch my wings there left me wondering, how on earth I can miss a place that’s so delicious and homey?

I was flabbergasted with myself, but impressed with the service and the manner in which I was received. Yet I wasn’t surprised to discover that their latest specials included, amongst other menus: “Mogodu & Samp”, “Pap & T-bone steak”. These dishes are representative of the “African Cuisine” palatable delights. They also, have something for the ladies i.e. “Ladies spare ribs & chips” and quiet honestly I was happy to be welcomed as a new guest on their list.
But, above all, I was taken aback by the physical ambience and the aesthetics of this venue. As a lazy person who sometimes doesn’t like to travel too far for my belly’s irresistible treats, I found out it is just around the corner and very convenient for my Sunday afternoon driving pleasure. When you finally land at this beautiful attractive joint, somehow, you are greeted by exotic German and Italian automobiles and the latest Japanese sports cars at the parking lot, a common sight nowadays in Soweto’s restaurants.
This place was fairly new to me; I believe about a year and half old, but boy! It is awesome. I guess if “The taste of the pudding is in the eating”, I will not try to convince you otherwise; if it failed to meet my analytical probing and scoping skills to grant it a Dooxy Do 3 ½ star rating. But nevertheless, your tour guide will be better informed when you ask him about Sochila Dining & Lounge in Diepkloof, as your alternative route from Dr. Nelson Mandela’s Museum. Get there soon, what have you got to lose? Soweto’s Time Travel will be an experience of your lifetime travels. I’m sold aren’t you?
