Fall Fashion - Best Picks for the Season

Stores are just starting to stock up on fall fashion and it can be a bit overwhelming for some. I have been asked by a number of people just what they should be buying this fall to stay in fashion for the new season. There are so many new items on the racks and not all of it good.

Here are my four picks (cuz I can't afford to buy 10) for the best of fall fashion:

1. Purple: This is a really hot colour for fall, it was even Pantone's colour of the year. Lots of designers including Fendi, Bottega Veneta, Blumarine and Michael Kors featured purple in their fall collections. I love love love this particular shade and the bow tie style blouse (see below).

2. Winter Florals: You can carry over your summer florals to winter with some minor adjustments. Just use fall colours mixed in with pretty florals. This Rebecca Taylor dress is kind of Prada-esque from Spring. Side note: Not really sure what kind of pose this chick's going with here...

3. Bow-tie Blouse: Mix up your work outfit with a bowed blouse. Big bow, small bow - whatever tickles your fancy. Proenza Schouler had some pretty magnificent bows on the runway. Totally do-able without looking too Little House on the Prairie

4. Plaid: Plaid is coming back. It's everywhere. But don't go crazy with the plaid. Wear it in small doses... a plaid shirt, a plaid scarf... But not both together. Perfect for a stroll around the city on a lazy weekend. Note to self: do not wear with cowboy hat.
