Vogue's inaugural Fashion's Night Out, an international event held to surge the fashion industry and restore consumer confidence, takes place tonight, September 10, 2009. The event is taking place 17 countries worldwide including Australia, the United Kingdom, India, and Brazil. Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour worked with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and New York City's ad agency NYC&Co to plan the event.

Fashion's Night Out in New York has over 800 participating stores with special events taking place in the respective stores from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.. The events include sales, cocktails, beauty treatments, music, and celebrity appearances.

According to the New York Times, there will be a slew of recognizable faces present tonight- from the Olsen twins who are bartending at the Bergdorf and Victoria Beckham who will be signing T-shirts to Donna Karan, Manolo Blahnik, Justin Timberlake, Blake Lively and Hugh Jackman

Some of the retailers partaking in the event include:

Rock & Republic, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Fred Segal, Neiman Marcus, Rose Ark, Tom's Shoes, MAC, Macy’s, Ralph Lauren and many more.

The festivities also serve as a kick-off to the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week presenting the Spring/Summer 2010 collections from the biggest names in American fashion.
