Florian Van Bael Fired for Eating During Abercrombie & Fitch Shoot

When 30 models were sequestered at the Panoramic Hotel in Montauk, New York for an Abercrombie & Fitch photo shoot, their eating and workout schedules were strictly monitored by Shahid & Co., the ad agency orchestrating the shoot. Belgian model Florian Van Bael was fired from the Abercrombie & Fitch shoot after he was seen eating a croissant.

Apparently, eating a croissant at the wrong time is grounds for immediate dismissal. Even Florian Van Bael's agent sided against the model:(Yes, this was the plot of the 1968 John Waters film Eat Your Makeup)

Van Bael's agent told Page Six, "I don't think it's a question about coffee or croissant, it's just a question of respect during an important job." Reps for Abercrombie & Fitch and Shahid didn't respond to repeated requests for comment.

We await clarification on when, exactly, is a respectful time to eat a croissant, having no idea it was quite so codified.

If you're wondering why Van Bael looks so sad in his headshots, it's most likely because he's hungry. We don't blame him.
