Florida Bird Photography and Alligators

The American Alligator is found in freshwater throughout Florida.  They grow up to 19 feet long with a  black body and a broad, rounded snout.  Alligators bellow, loudly by raising their head and tails out of the water and performing a kind of  "water dance", vibrating his whole torso and the water around him. Although alligators have heavy bodies and slow metabolisms they are capable of short bursts of speed, especially in very short lunges. Alligators' main prey are smaller animals that they can kill and eat with a single bite.
