Free Cone Day Today at Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream
Today is free cone day at Ben and Jerry's ice-cream shops in the US and Canada. The Vermont-based not-so-micro microicecreamery has been doing free cone day for many years- I remember the queue out the door when I was a student. Free cone day was a bit of a phenomenon back then, and I presume that it still is.
Why would a company give away the only product they make?
Brand recognition, position in the community, anything to separate them from the pack, as it were.
Should you care about the reasons?
Nope.
Should you care about free ice cream?
I should hope so.
I am not affiliated with Ben, Jerry, or any of their cows... I'm just an editor who loves ice cream... however, I don't live in Victoria (home of BC's only B&J), so I must get vicarious bottom-front-tooth-numbness via our other American- and Canadian-based readers and contributors.
Anyway, if you want free ice cream, check out their store locator for a counter near you. The Vermonster, however, is not on the free menu, so fuhgeddaboudit.
