Getting downtown London from Heathrow
Once in the Heathrow Airport and through immigration and customs, I get local currency, British pounds from a banking machine. I get a subway map and buy an Express train ticket to the Piccadilly Tube station. Note, there are cheaper transit options, or taxis, but I prefer speed and comfort when the price is reasonable. Half an hour later, in the Piccadilly station, I buy an Oyster card, which is my Underground subway pre-paid card. I am ready to travel the Central London Underground.
I go to the Bakerloo line to go downtown. When the train comes, I then knew why it was called The Tube, The Tube is a tube. Outside the Waterloo station I get directions from a friendly fellow who points the way to the London Eye, a Ferris Wheel tourist attraction. In less than two hours from landing, I was at the Thames river staring at Big Ben, the distinguished London landmark. I had made good time considering it was my first time to England.
