The Twitter account of suspended Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas has been deleted, but it is not clear yet whether Arenas deleted his account voluntarily or the NBA made him do it. It was alleged Arenas's "open talk" on Twitter might have contributed to his indefinite suspension from the NBA. Arenas was suspended by the NBA commissioner David Stern for bringing four guns into the team's locker room and threatening teammate Javaris Crittenton in an alleged gambling brawl. Arenas had a six-year $111-million contract with the Wizards. He has been suspended without pay.

Stern commented, saying he suspended Arenas for "his ongoing behavior" that led him to conclude that Arenas is not currently fit to take the court in an NBA game.

Days after the gun incident, Arenas tried to justify himself on his Twitter page. He insisted the incident was a joke that he played on his teammate because he is a "goof ball." At one point he said, "why do people try to make me look bad...I CAN DO THAT ALL BY MY SELF lol and im out.." He also said unidentified "people" told him not to Tweet about the situation as NBA was investigating the incident.

Many are now wondering if NBA made Arenas delete his Twitter account while the investigation is ongoing.

His freedom of speech turned into self incrimination.  Dumbazz should have kept a tight lid on the situation and consoled in his expensive team of lawyers rather than a bunch of groupies on twitter.
