April 7 marked the launch of the new Silver line of products from Adidas in Southeast Asia with a party at the Adidas retail outlet in the Siam Center in downtown Bangkok. Great food and interesting drinks were the highlights of the party along with the new Adidas products.

The adidas SLVR Label (reading adidas Silver Label or Silver in short), the collection consists of strong basic pieces in simple black and white with accents provided in maroon, orange and shades of blue. The SLVR signature color, gun metal grey, appears on a few key styles. The items are affordable, attainable and ultimately wearable, providing classic staples for anyone’s individual wardrobe.

Key products that reflect both the ideals of reducing complexity and enhancing creative solutions in the design and production process are the "7 Piece Shoe" and the "Zero Waste Tee." The "7 Piece Shoe" consists of a 6 piece upper stitched to a 1 piece outsole; whereas most sneakers are made of at least 25 individual pieces that are glued together.

The "Zero Waste Tee" is made out of one piece of fabric that was cut once and uses a single stitch around the body to create its unique shape. Created in a 3 step method, it is much simpler than any other T’s on the market. Both items are unique in their simplicity, yet comfortable and long lasting.  Adidas SLVR materials include sustainable organic cotton, soybean fabric, water resistant nylon and coated natural canvas in comfortable and light weight executions, perfect for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2009 season and the tropical country like Thailand.  The launch collection includes men’s & women’s apparel, footwear and accessories.

The food, which was provided by White Café Catering (www.whitecafecatering.com), a premier event catering company in Bangkok, was fantastic and the items cane from the company’s fusion cocktail menu. This menu consists of creative canapés designed by owner/chef Benya and encompasses many different cuisine styles in imaginative combinations. The seafood skewers were to die for and the salmon salad with horseradish dressing and new potatoes were not far behind. There was also a great tiramisu and several other food items, including some deep-fried oyster balls, that were equally delicious. And as an added twist, every canapé was placed in a shot glass, adding a certain cachet to the service. Along with the great mojitos that the bar was serving up, the food and beverage aspect of this party was definitely five-star.

Adidas certainly made a splash here in Bangkok and gave people plenty of reasons to remember this party: great new products, great food and great drinks.
