A tourist week themed “Ha Long – A world natural wonder” will open in the town on April 25, authorities in the northern province of Quang Ninh have announced.

The festival will see performers from China’s Guang xi, Hainan, and Yunnan provinces, Laos’ Luang Prabang Province and the Republic of Korea’s Gangwon Province.

The opening ceremony on April 26 will feature a floating stage on the sea and a procession of boats and ships.

During the week, there will be national and international music and dance performances, an international trade fair, a food fair, and a beauty contest to crown Miss Ha Long 2008.

With voting to nominate the “New Seven Wonders of Nature” having begun, Ha Long Bay has climbed into the top ten.

Votes are recorded on www.new7wonders.com. A similar poll last year nominated the seven wonders of the modern world.
