Hemopet/Pet Life-Line will hold its Third Annual “Walk-A-Pet For Life” dog walk to raise funds for its Restore Health Center, the nation’s first nonprofit alternative medicine rehabilitation center for restoring the health of pets. The fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Huntington Central Park in Huntington Beach, California. This campaign is for a permanent two-acre, environmentally friendly, pet rehabilitation facility in Garden Grove. The Restore Health Center is designed for short-term alternative, transitional or emergency care of dogs, cats and other small animals. It will offer conventional and alternative therapeutic treatments including acupuncture, physiotherapy, chiropractic, and herbal medicine, and the Center will have a pick-up service by pet ambulance as well as pet nursing staff to make follow up home visits. The new Center will also serve as the permanent home for Hemopet’s exceptional greyhound rescue-donor-adoption program and related community service activities. Upon completion, this new project will also feature a unique group of apartment-style units for the rescued greyhounds with outdoor exercise yards and playgrounds. The new greyhound village suite concept is also intended to create a favorable setting for prospective adopters to view and connect with the greyhounds. Over the last 21 years, Hemopet/Pet Life-Line has set new standards for safe and effective transfusion medicine; has rescued more than 1200 greyhound dogs from the racing industry and found them new homes; initiated innovative programs that educate children, people with special needs and the general public about companion animal care; developed Hemolife, the largest pet diagnostic health laboratory in North America offering individualized diagnoses that consider age, sex, breed type and activity of the animal. Hemopet services over 2,000 veterinary clinics nationwide and in Canada, and they have over 5,000 clients who use Hemolife for blood diagnostic services. The Walk-A-Pet For Life dog walk will start at 10:00 am and go through 2:00 pm. Registration will start at 8:30 am. Hunting Central Park is located at 6622 Lakeview in Huntington Beach, California. About Hemopet Established in 1986, Hemopet/Pet Life-Line is the country’s first private 501 (c) (3) nonprofit animal blood bank. Today it is the country’s largest full-service nonprofit blood bank providing state-of-the-art blood components and supplies for transfusions to more than 2,000 veterinary clinics nationwide and in Canada. Hemopet and Dr. Jean Dodds have such an outstanding vision meant to help not only all animals but particularly the misinterpreted Greyhound.
More than 20 years of aiding, devoting, and sacrificing for the dumped and homeless Greyhounds, is more than a press release; this is a dream come true for many and only a few will miss this point.
We, the adopters of Greyhounds, and lovers of Dogs, commend all those participating in such a worthy cause.
2,000 miles is a long way to go for a walk (Florida) but there will be millions who shall be there in their hearts and soul.
To Greyhounds...the Angel Dogs.
