Restaurants and hotels in the central city of Danang are ready with more than 7,000 good-quality rooms to welcome tourists to the international fireworks contest 2008 held in the city on March 27-28, said Duong Thi Tho, Chairman of the tourism management office at Danang’s Tourism Department.

The department asked restaurants and hotels not to raise room prices and taxi agencies not to increase transport cost.

Also on this occasion, PB Air from Thailand will offer 15 free round-trip tickets on the Bangkok – Danang route and Vietnam national flag carrier (Vietnam Airlines) will present 5 round trip tickets on domestic flights.

The international fireworks contest 2008 will be held on the banks of the Han River such as the Sea Culture Festival and the Ba Na Festival to advertise the city’s culture, tourism, and sports.

The city will invite representatives from countries that are experienced and have traditions in fireworks to take part in the festival. The first year, the city will invite China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Australia.

Awards are valued at US$50,000, $30,000 and $20,000 for the top three prizes.
