Isabelle Caro Dies at Age 28

French model Isabelle Caro, whose shocking billboard ad warned of the dangers of anorexia, has died at age 28. Daniele Dubreuil-Prevot, Isabelle Caro's acting teacher, said that Caro had been ill for a long time. The billboard, shot by Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani, is pictured here.

Isabelle Caro had been battling anorexia nervosa since she was 13 years old, and had been hospitalized twice. At one point, she slipped into a coma from which doctors predicted she would not recover.

Isabella Caro passed away on November 17, but those close to her were able to keep the news secret for over a month.

Caro featured in an ad campaign by Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani in 2007 for an Italian fashion house. Under the headline "No Anorexia," images across newspapers and billboards showed Caro naked, vertebrae and facial bones protruding.
