A week after her scheduled due date, a very pregnant Jessica Simpson has finally given birth to her first child!

After checking into an undisclosed Los Angeles medical facility earlier this morning (May 1), US Weekly confirmed that she and fiance Eric Johnson are the proud parents of a baby girl named Maxwell Drew Johnson!

With family members including Miss SImpson's mother, Tina, and sister, Ashlee, as well as Eric's parents on hand for the childbirth process, Maxwell arrived weighing in at a whopping 9 lbs., 13 oz. while her middle name of Drew happens to be Jessica's mom's middle name, as well.

The elated parents took to Simpson's official website to confirm the news themselves.

"Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby Maxwell Drew Johnson 9 lbs. 13 oz. 21 3/4," wrote Jessica. ""We are so grateful for all of the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!"

Prior to welcoming little Maxwell Drew, the 31-year-old fashionista sounded serious about her upcoming role as mommy, as she was quoted saying, "Creating a family is the best thing I've done in my life."

After her birth date flew by last week, Simpson was spotted going for a bumpy car ride in hopes of inducing labor on Sunday (April 29).

The "With You" songstress sat shotgun as her fiance Eric Johnson drove her around for a bit, though it didn't seem to do the trick.

Jessica's dad Joe had taken to his Twitter page to update fans- "Still counting down the days til I am a grandpa again. Keep Jess in your prayers."

Katy Perry also tweeted, "Has Jessica Simpson had that baby yet?! I'm getting anxious," while Chelsea Handler wrote, "How has Jessica Simpson still not given birth to this baby? I'm getting frightened."

Both stars can breathe easy now, as Jessica is resting safely with her baby in hospital.
