Legoland Florida is opening at Cypress Gardens in 2011. The theme park is supposedly aimed at preteens, but come on: we all know that adults are going to dig it the most. Merlin Entertainment, which operates the Legoland theme parks, paid $22 million for  Cypress Gardens, which was Florida's oldest theme park before closing in September of 2009.

Cypress Gardens, soon to be Legoland Florida, is in Winter Haven, FL.

The new theme park, aimed at kids 2- to 12-years-old, would be the fifth Legoland in the world and the largest yet, with 50 rides, shows and attractions. In addition to the 10-year-old Legoland California in Carlsbad, Merlin operates Legolands in Denmark, Germany and Britain.

Wonderful news. I once went to Cypress Gardens, long after it's hayday had passed. There were still watersports and waterskiing shows and the gardens but the crowds were small. I am glad to hear it will be revived.
