Is Michelle Obama fashion icon already?
Is Michelle Obama a fashion icon already? In the old days it would take years for someone to achieve the status that the first Lady has attained. From top fashion magazines to TV shows, it seems everyone wants a piece of Michelle Obama. Is it just because of the slumping economy? To be honest it's probably a little of both. In little over a year, Michelle Obama fashion has become taking the world by storm.
In the first year alone, Michelle Obama made several ground braking fashion statements. She wore shorts to the Grand Canyon. She has let her arms go bare for state functions. She is even willing to wear chart busting inauguration gowns that would even test the wealthiest persons budget. The question is, what is real and what is fake? Is this the real person we see in the news? Is the first Lady really just a brand.
With several productive government programs under her belt in her first year, it would be hard to say she 'lacks substance'. The First Lady is a lover of life. She works hard and plays hard. So shouldn't she deserve these seemingly harmless fashion indulgences. Why do some women get so mad at Michelle Obama for looking good? She's just doing what comes naturally. She's married to the most powerful man in the world after all.
At first it was a way to give the fashion industry a little bump in a slumping economy. It morphed into something totally different. Designer after designer came running to offer their services to the First Lady. In recent months Michelle Obama has definitely toned it down a little. I think it's better from a political stand point for her to wear more modest clothing. After all we are in a recession, six hundred dollar tennis shoes would cause anyone to gasp.
