Michelle Obama Tells Jay Leno She Shops at J. Crew
Michelle Obama appeared on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" last night, October 27, where she discussed online shopping at J. Crew, early voting, Barack's ailing grandmother, and her recent wedding anniversary.
Michelle Obama maintained that she and Barack purchase their clothes out of pocket, yet refused to chastise Sarah Palin and the Republican National Committee for spending $150,000 on a new wardrobe, citing that she was trying to remain "empathetic" to Palin's situation and the difficulties with being thrust "on the national stage and everyone's watching."
Leno jokingly speculated that Michelle's outfit was worth $60,000, and she responded that it was actually a "J. Crew ensemble," adding that "you can get some good stuff online."
The potential future First-Lady wore a yellow skirt, sweater and blouse, complimented by a signature brooch.

I think it's admirable of her to not go after Sarah Palin's expense account. Because she certainly had all the amunition to do so. However, her and Sarah Palin's stature in this race differ greatly so that might be part of the reason why you can't really compare the two.

Yeah, I think she said all she needed to with the comment that she and Barack have a policy of spending their own money on their clothes. She addressed the issue in a positive way by pointing to her own behaviour instead of directly criticizing Palin's habits - I think that shows a lot of class.

This is a usual thing for a woman, Michelle wanted to look fabulous always because she is the first lady and she must act as a good role model for all the women and ladies out there. Michelle really looks smart with her fashion! The President also went on the Tonight show to talk about the AIG bonuses, or how they spent the cash advances given to them courtesy of the American taxpayers. Needless to say, the American public and Congress were not amused. The President made assurances that the bill passed over the matter, HR 1586 won't set a precedent to tax who they see fit, and that other taxes will be devoted to education and health care. All of this and some good-natured fun was part of what was covered in the interview of Obama on Jay Leno.
