No one does hippy-chic better than Miss Sixty and as such the Spring/Summer 2009 show was a tour de force of young, bohemian and flowing outfits that fit perfectly with the brand’s party-girl image. The clothes were highly stylized, mixing stripes prints and patterns in a way that created an adventurously powerful visual aesthetic that can only be pulled off by the most fashion forward style devotees.
At the same time, there was an effortless in the clothes that came through in the silks and soft jersey fabrics, lending the collection a relaxed yet sophisticated edge. The color palette was straight from the 1970’s with psychedelic prints that recalled the days when LSD was seen as a mind-enhancing substance.
With a collection title like “New Urban Superheroines,” is it possible that creative director Wichy Hassan had Gossip Girl on the mind? There was a definite Jenny Humphrey spirit in the girly and edgy-preppy separates like a silk voile plaid pleated skirt and striped tank. Or maybe it was just us after Serena Van Der Woodson and Blair Waldorf sightings earlier that day.
