Both Mountain Dew and Pepsi cola have now introduced the Throwback editions of their soda which are sweetened with real cane-sugar as opposed to the HFCS sugar replacement used in many sodas today.

Pepsi has been using HFCS, a fructose corn syrup, to sweeten their cola instead of sugar, but a limited edition supply of Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback are now available and are made with real sugar. The Throwback sodas can be found in regular grocery stores and supermarkets.

It is seen that limited-edition versions generate a lot of enthusiasm among the users and they find the taste of cane-sugar soda sweetest than the HFCS versions. So, the Pepsi has decided to reissue both versions for another eight-week run and the production has been started from 28th December last year. Michelle Naughton, Pepsi Publicist, calls it overwhelming positive consumer response.

The Throwback editions of Pepsi and Mountain Dew are popular due to their relatively cheap price compared to many other sodas as well as what some consider the healthier option of consuming real sugar rather than HFCS..

They also feature new packaging and logo designs on the cans that mark them as Throwback edition sodas. The re-design is said to have a classic look that the first Pepsi cans featured a long time ago.
