"More Than You Needed To Know" - Mukmuk as an Olympic mascot

Mukmuk, the second-string mascot for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, is officially a plush toy. A cuddly, cuddly plush toy. One should expect keychains, mugs, and other knicknacks in not-too-distant future.

I thought Mukmuk was a beaver, but he's actually a marmot. While no fan of the Olympification of Whistler, I admit that, immediately upon seeing Mukmuk, I wanted to squeeeeeeeeeeze him.

After selling more than 200,000 kid-sized versions of official mascots Miga, Quatchi and Sumi, organizers for the 2010 Winter Olympics celebrated the first anniversary of their unveiling by introducing a new plush animal to merchandising tables across the country, a tuque-wearing Vancouver Island marmot known as Mukmuk.

Described as a mascot sidekick, Mukmuk may be the best seller of all.

Miga, Quatchi and Sumi are gonna be jealous. It could get ugly.
