March 11, 2013- National Wine Week in Baltimore will officially "Swirl-Off" at 12:00 pm  today in downtown Baltimore, Maryland.

National Wine Week was started by the Smith & Wollensky steakhouse chain. The company is based out of the financial district in Boston, MA.

This is the first year that Baltimore is joining in the National Wine Week celebration. This is the 52nd Anniversary of Wine Week for the posh steakhouse chain.

The driving force behind Baltimore celebrating National Wine Week is the creation of The Wine'tastic Mile of Baltimore.

The Wine'tastic Mile is the 1.3 mile corridor that runs from Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Pratt Street to the fashionable and chic Harbor East area of downtown Baltimore.

The first Wine'tastic Mile street sign was officially unveiled on December 12, 2012 (12/12/12) at 12:00 pm.

Derrick E. Vaughan the founder of The Wine'tastic Mile will "Swirl-Off" National Wine Week with the popping of a magnum bottle of champagne at 12:00 pm at the Hampton Inn Downtown- Convention Center.

The Hampton Inn is located across the street from Oriole Park at Camden Yards (Baltimore Orioles) and 2 blocks from M&T Bank Stadium (Baltimore Ravens).
