IKEA opened recently their first shop in Southampton. It is the first shop they open in the South of England and people are arriving from all the nearby towns. I visited the place a couple of weeks after it opened, cause I thought 'I'll give it some time to cool down'. As you can see from the pictures... it really didn't cool down! There were queues everywhere. We had to queue for at least 20 mins in the parking in order to get in. While inside it was not that bad but what stroke me was that I saw at least a couple of couples with their newborns in there. The babies were like days old! Makes no sense... Apart from that we had to queue for another half hour to get food in the IKEA restaurant.

I've been to many IKEA stores around Europe but I have to say I did not like this one. It has a weird structure. You have to go up 3 floors, through the parking to get to the shop. I didn't find it very practical. But on the other hand it was built in the city centre which is handy if you want to go in for a few small things.

Cheap and cheerful thats Ikea. As for the cues that in itself would put me off going there.

Shocking indeed!! IKEA is not bad at all. It's excellent if you are on a low budget and you wonna change your house a bit. But these queues are unbelievable..

I just want to add with your article that the place is quite maintained and the service is so good that you can wait for half an hour for them to serve you.
