I know when I first heard the news that there were new horoscope signs, including this new Ophiuchus sign, I wondered a) how this would affect me, and b) as I am a Capricorn, does this mean I will now be an Ophiuchus?

But it turns out that Ophiuchus doesn't really affect anyone, and these new zodiac signs are not new to astronomers. 

They include the 13th sign, Ophiuchus, but astronomers are not astrologers, and astrologers have not included Ophiuchus, the 13th sign as many think it was discarded by the ancient Babylonians. 

A list of Ophiuchus personality traits have not really been established as it is still up for debate whether this new zodiac sign is going to be included or not, and if you are considered an Ophiuchus (November 29 to December 17), then your personality traits will pretty much be in line with those of Sagittarius or Capricorn. Some have come up with some more specific traits if you choose to follow the new zodiac. 

There has been some talk that this new sign will only affect those born after 2009, although as Ophiuchus was discovered at the same time as the other zodiac signs, I'm not sure where that 'fact' came from.

Apparently in another 3000 years, our descendants will be having this same dilemma, as the signs will have shifted again. 

So it appears that this new zodiac sign is both real and fake, you can just choose to follow it if you wish to, or you can just choose to discard it if you wish to.
