Oasis of the Seas Arrival in Port Everglades: Webcam, Video
The Oasis of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship, arrived at Port Everglades, Florida, this morning. You can see the Oasis of the Seas arrival in Port Everglades via the Port Everglades webcam. That ship is massive- we've all been to towns smaller than the Oasis of the Seas. (If you're wondering why the ship has such an oxymoronic name, Royal Carribean adds of the Seas to all of their ships)
To drum up attention, Royal Caribbean International, builders of Oasis of the Seas, have been churning out info on social media sites such as Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter. I'm not sure how this is more effective than regular advertising, since going on a cruise isn't exactly a spur-of-the-moment decision for most people. Also, what is the overlap between the Twitter demographic and the cruise-enthusiast demographic? The answer to that question is marketing gold, beyond just tweeting webcam links to a huge ship.
At 225,282 gross tons, the Oasis of the Seas is a record-breaking 40 percent bigger than the next-biggest cruise ship and five times bigger than the fabled Titanic.
